On the fisherman

In the car/fishing hut

  • eye protection/polarized glasses (essential)
  • rod with reel and floating line
  • spare reel and sinking line
  • boots/thigh waders
  • landing net
  • waistcoat containing scissors/pliers; fly box & flies; spare leaders/nylon; fly floatant; leader sinkant; priest
  • dogs - optional!
  • waterproof jacket and trousers
  • spare rod and reels and/or spools with different lines
  • sink tips; spare leaders/nylon
  • repair kit with glue, etc.
  • reserve box of flies

Do NOT forget - Environment Agency Rod Licence (England & Wales); any necessary permit(s) for the water you’re fishing.

Suggested sundries

Plastic bags to carry your catch home; scales/tape measure; camera/film; notebook; corkscrew; thermos flask/picnic lunch; towel; torch; spare clothes (falling in kit); map of how to get there, etc.
