Murthly Tay 4th April 2018

River 1ft 1inch on Caputh gauge and clear, after fairly heavy overnight snow. The drive down to the beat was entertaining but the snow melted as the day went on. Two of our rods went home early, not liking the wintry conditions, but the rest of the team fished most of the day.

At least our blushes were saved at last by Cecil D who managed a spanking 40ins sea-liced Springer on a Bismo from the bank just below the Bargee stone on Miss Ballantines famous Boat Bool in the afternoon. He estimated it at 25LBS. Whilst you don’t need many of those to make your week, he promptly followed it up with a 5lb Brown Trout almost next cast. The only other encounter was for Nick D who landed a nice well mended Kelt from Sparrowmuir.
