Tay 4th May 2016 A first fish!

Water dropping but only slowly. Back to just under 2ft when we arrived on the Lower Water but nice and clear.

Not much happened until mid morning when David S hooked and promptly lost a fish at the top of the spruces – He apparently then received a right bollocking from the Ghillie because his reel drag had been left full on and the fish couldn’t run at all!

However our blushes were then saved by Simon M who, on only his second trip to Murthly and having just mastered a new cast, then hooked, played and landed a spanking 12 pounder, plastered in sea-lice from the lower part of the Spruces. His first ever Salmon, congratulations to him! Several more fish were seen and hopes are now high for the rest of the week with the water height more in our favour.
