Fairnilee Tweed 29th October 2021

Oh dear…. Water rose to 9ft yesterday with widespread flooding along the valley. Down to just under 6ft on the gauge by lunchtime today but more heavy rain had the river rising yet again and still very coloured.

A pleasant aside though was to visit the falls on the Leithen and watch the salmon and sea-trout running and, or at least attempt, to leap the falls! What amazing creatures they are for never giving up. Again and again one particular fish threw itself at the maelstrom only to be swept back. He or she finally made it at about the 8th attempt. Wonderful to see.
