In this week last year the river was 8″ on the Caputh gauge and we basked in blazing sunshine all week. Today the was Tay down to 3’9″ from 5’6″ yesterday after storm Dave swept though, but running clear. The weather was mild and the wind was cold, but not too severe. The contrast for the same week in two consecutive seasons couldn’t be greater!
I therefore thought there was every chance that of one of the guys would connect with a running fish near the bank. But apart from two decent trout, nothing to report other than a couple of fish were seen in the Bridge pool.
Colin’s syndicate fishers tried hard all day and though my guys on the course were mostly learning in the morning, by the afternoon they were all putting out a decent line and had every chance of connecting. So it wasn’t for the want of trying. And, at this height, you don’t need a long cast. As ever we just need a pod of springers to stop for a brief rest.
Plenty of snow on the hills which should be good for later in the season.
