With most of those who have booked dropping out of the Dalmarnock courses, I have spoken to Colin and we have taken the decision to try to postpone the first week, hopefully until later this summer or until next spring if necessary. The fishing remains available for anyone who wants to or can still go. […]

Season Opens and Corvid 19
Firstly, I hope you are all safe and well in these difficult times. Well at least we managed to get the trout season underway here at the farm, with the first fish of the season to John P. Mild conditions and astonishingly clear water, given all the rain recently and a good hatch of midge, […]
Coronavirus update 16th March
Although I am following the national news on a daily basis, as no doubt are you, I am still intending to run my courses at the farm, my Scottish courses and fishing and international trips as scheduled. I think we are all a lot safer out fishing than just about anywhere else!
Murthly 13th April 2019
Water steady at 1ft and just perfect. Weather overcast but a bitter strong east wind which did make fishing conditions unpleasant and difficult. But with a good team of rods we most certainly covered the water. I saw one small fish jump in the Ministers but otherwise I don’t think a single fish was seen […]
Murthly 12th April 2019
Top Beat: Water 1ft 2ins, overcast and mild with a light breeze. It just doesn’t get any better. I had a couple of angry tugs fishing my big prawn very deep in the Tronach – fish already caught and released I suspect. Cecil D saw a couple of fish coming through the fast water at […]
Murthly 11th April 2019
And the sun shone down from a cloudless sky yet again on 1ft 2ins of “perfect” water height. Simon M managed our only connection of the day, a fish “in the teens” on for 15 or so minutes from the bargee side of the boat pool before a long range release. One other fish was […]
Murthly 10th April 2019
Water 1ft 3ins after a bitterly cold night. That was then followed by blazing sun all day. Good for the tan but hopeless for the fishing. We never saw a single fish all day, I guess they’ve all got their heads down in the shade like me!
Murthly9th April 2019
Water down a little on yesterday for us on the Lower Water. Overcast morning but very cold easterly wind. I saw a fish in the tail of the Spruces early on but it either wasn’t interested or had moved on by the time Dennis P covered it. Several other fish seen today and Peter W […]
Murthly 8th April 2019
Upper Water: Height 1ft 6ins on Caputh gauge, mild some cloud cover in the morning and a good team of rods. It doesn’t get better…. except there were no fish. None of us saw so much as a fin all day other than a spectacular hatch of olives or March Browns and trout rising all […]
Dalmarnock 6th April 2019
Occasional showers forecast for us by the BBC for the morning… try torrential rain all morning and into the afternoon. River was rising, we were wet but enthusiasm was not diminished. Several fish seen. Jane S had a brief encounter in the Summerhouse pool, Lars R had a fish boil at his fly with me […]
