Scottish 2021 spring Salmon & Spey Casting courses cancelled.

Dear All,

Coronavirus Update – Spring Salmon Courses 2021 CANCELLED.

I hope this finds you all well.

I write following the latest “Roadmaps” put out by Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon.

As a qualified accredited teacher, running long established training courses and with all schools back in England by March 8th , I can reopen my tuition and courses here at the farm. The English roadmap then allows for outdoor activities and education to commence March 29th with a rule of six applying. So in England we would be good to go for Salmon Courses as well.

However in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon is keeping the non-essential travel ban in place at least until April 5th (particularly cross-border) and the rules about outdoor education are still not clear even at that date. So in Scotland we could not go at least until April 5th.

Finally with regards the Hotel: They are only currently allowed to accommodate Key Workers and whilst as a teacher running a course I would qualify, I am afraid that my pupils currently do not. There is also the downside of all meals on your own in your room and no bar etc. Hotels are not expected to open until the end of April at the earliest.

For these reasons I do not believe it is possible to run my courses again this year.

As before I would like to offer you the following options:

Automatically roll your booking to 2022 at the price you have already paid. I should add that my charges will have to rise in 2022 to accommodate some of the losses myself and the estates have suffered during the pandemic.

Cancel and receive a full refund on the price you paid.

Transfer your booking to another course date tbc this year possibly on Tweed in the autumn.

For those that want essential tuition before a particular fishing trip: Transfer your payment as a credit (with refund of any balance) to take a crash course over one or two days here at the farm (see my website page on crash courses) on a more intensive basis with tuition on a 1: 2 or 3 people basis.

As you can imagine I am massively saddened to now lose a second year’s courses but I very much hope to see you all on a riverbank sometime soon. Please let me know the option you would like to take.

Best wishes

Michael
