Tay, Scotland 8th April 2023

Lower Water: Water 1’1″ on the Caputh gauge. Overcast.

We fished all morning without seeing a fish and then Cecil D went out with Donald in the boat and promptly caught a spanking fresh 8 pounder right up in the neck of the Spruces just where we had both fished down earlier from the bank. Must have just come in whilst we were changing over. Frustrating in a way when you miss the run – they are rarely alone – but that’s fishing!

So three Springers for the week and another close encounter. Not a bonanza by any standard, but with relative novices in the first three days when we saw most of the fish seen during the week, not too shabby.
